Bearish sentiment had its biggest one-week drop since the week of August 29, 2013, in the latest AAII Investor Sentiment Survey. In addition, bullish sentiment had its biggest one-week increase since mid-February.
The bull/bear spread, which measures the difference between bullish and bearish sentiment, rose to its highest level in six weeks to +12.85 percentage points.
Overall, the readings for August 14, 2014, are as follows:
- Bullish: 39.81%, up 8.93 percentage points
- Neutral: 33.23%, up 2.34 percentage points
- Bearish: 26.96%, down 11.27 percentage points
The AAII Sentiment Survey has been conducted weekly since July 1987. We encourage AAII members to participate in this weekly survey in which we ask where you think the stock market is headed over the next six months. The survey period runs from Thursday (12:01 a.m.) to Wednesday (11:59 p.m.).
